Our research department hosts some of the best and most experienced minds in innovative and practice research and is set up to apply cutting-edge insights and tools to promote research and informed practice within the Black community. Our Services:
Consultancy Services: We have the proficiency and resources to research topics related to racialized and non-racialized groups and can support individual and organizational research needs related to these areas. Our consultants provide proficiency and strategic advice (information and support) to our clientele (private, public, not-for-profit, and Black serving sectors) for consideration and decision-making. Consultants utilize various initiatives, programs, policies, and procedures development and implementation through an equity, inclusive and anti-racist lens to ensure that it meets the needs and centers the voices of those to whom the projects are to be offered.
Our Lead Consultant, Ajirioghene Evi
Ajirioghene holds a master’s degree in Social Work (Community Development) and has the expertise and knowledge related to strategic service expansion visioning and strategy, as well as strategic implementation and service/product launch. A recent example is a magnification of KMFW from an Afrocentric-counselling individual counselling provider to a multi-service organization with expertise in prevention focus groups, prevention-oriented addictions care, settlement services for families and groups, and collective advocacy. As a consultant, she has mastery of involving and facilitating dialogue between and with internal and external stakeholders in stakeholder engagements and implementation plans, bringing her experience with stakeholder and community needs assessments into line. Ajirioghene is passionate about research equity that addresses data analysis from multiple intersectional factors such as designing, pretesting, and administrating age-appropriate survey tools in English. She has also collaborated with researchers equipped to transform survey tools into various languages, such as Arabic, Spanish, Swahili, and French.
Collaborative Research: We believe in partnerships and connected communities and are open to partnering with mainstream and grassroots organizations that promote research on Black persons and research programs that support Black persons in their wellness journey.
Program Development and Evaluation: We develop/adapt, implement and evaluate culturally informed programs and services.
Community-Driven Research Services: We develop evaluation tools and conduct research that supports policy efforts around needs identification and support within the Black community.
