Successes in KMFW's Afrocentric Counselling
Many Black Canadians face unique barriers while accessing mental health services. KMFW facilitates care through culturally adapted Afrocentric counseling delivered by professionals who are racially, culturally, and spiritually equipped.
A client sought out KMFW's counseling services after facing challenges with clinicians who did not understand her specific needs. At KMFW, she found a counselor who intimately grasped the nuances of being Black—she no longer felt invisible.
Another client, initially apprehensive about court-appointed therapy, found his experience at KMFW was like "sitting down, talking to my Auntie." Supported by his counselor, he engaged in his healing process authentically and continued his sessions beyond his mandate.
"This is a place where I am comfortable, where I can be who I am, and they see me."
By offering knowledgeable and empathetic care, KMFW ensures clients feel seen, heard, and understood.
